A  festive Christmas party, calls for a fancy outfit and there are no exceptions — even if you're an IT guy. Moreover, you'll be celebrating with your colleagues, friends, and your relatives, so this is your chance to show off your style.

Work Christmas Party Outfit

For an office Christmas party, it's best to step it up a notch and dress fancier than your usual work outfit. If you're faced with a formal dress code, a suit is a good start. This can simply be done by combining your white button-up shirt with one of your suits. Skip the dull navy or grey work suit, and instead, go for more festive colors. Dark red or emerald green are sophisticated colors that match well with a Christmas theme and are still work-appropriate. If it's a casual work Christmas outfit that you're dressing for, then anything with a blazer is acceptable. Nevertheless, your style should still be professional.  Examples of suitable tops could be a white T-shirt, sweater, or turtleneck. If you're going for jeans, make sure they are well-fitted and dark-colored. Wool pants or chinos are also acceptable, as long as they are not too casual (No baggy pants, no bright colors). Time to have fun! For a festive, yet sleek outfit you can unleash your creativity for this combo. You can go bold for this outfit,  and select suits with more detail, such as fancy patterns and bold colors.  Since this is still a Christmas party, we suggest you seek out Christmassy colors, such as dark coral red, gold, or emerald green. If you want to wear something unique and tasteful, then a velvet suit may be just the thing for you. It certainly matches the Christmas theme and is a cozy fabric for the cold season. 

Black Tie Christmas Party Outfit

This is the kind of theme you should have an outfit prepared for in advance. A black tie theme is all about formality, so it's time to get your tuxedo out. Be cautious of the tailoring, as the appearance of this suit is dependent on the fit. Combine your tuxedo with a pleated shirt with a wing-tip collar and a matching bow tie. Since this is a festive occasion, you can experiment with colors and different fabrics. If you're attending a Christmas party that includes dinner, you may want to up-dress the current outfit you had in mind. You don't need to get your tux out, however, a suit or a blazer outfit is welcome.

There is more freedom in the choice of color for your outfit. If you want to go for something neutral, then beige, or brown are ideal. Although there is the opportunity to wear navy or grey, it may be a bit too business-orientated, especially if you're just going out with your friends or loved ones.
